EMPL prevails against global competition

The Arabian countries have always ranked among EMPL’s strongest export markets. Decades of experience, high quality and durable units adapted to the climatic and specific deployment conditions, perfect after-sales organisation in cooperation with local partners and on-going training made EMPL the market leader in many fields in the Near East. The result: successful and long-term business relations based on mutual trust.

High demands due to varying climatic conditions

Depending on the region, the Sultanate of Oman has varying climatic conditions. The temperatures at the coast are very high and with high humidity, but the inland desert regions have a hot and dry climate, with extreme day/night temperature fluctuations. In the mountainous areas, temperatures may drop to below freezing point, however. Strong trade winds and monsoons are quite common.

Oman invests in civil defence

In 2007, for instance, the tropical cyclone Gonu caused devastation costing billions and killing dozens. The authorities reacted quickly and decided to procure modern equipment for civil defence, which falls under the Royal Oman Police and includes fire and disaster protection. An international tender was published for 60 vehicles, medium to heavy class, plus protective equipment. EMPL successfully prevailed against global competition and was awarded the following tender lots:

  • 32 x TLF 7000/200 for communal fire protection
  • 1 x TLF 15 000/10 000 for industrial deployment
  • 1 x heavy rescue vehicle for technical assistance
  • 1 x heavy towing vehicle type SBV for disaster management
