Ever since 2004, Empl has delivered vehicle superstructures for the Bulgarian army. After the delivery of 30 crew transport platforms on MB Zetos 6x6 chasses in the middle of last year, two impressive heavy cranes on all-terrain MB Actros 8x8 chasses followed at the end of December last year.

The Bulgarian army has successfully cooperated with Empl for many years. Superstructures were delivered to the Ministry of Defence in Bulgaria on several occasions in recent years, for example: articulated trailers for the transport of containers and shelters, crew transporters, towing vehicles, hook-loading systems, workshop superstructures and tanker superstructures. Two heavy cranes were recently procured in order to increase the operating readiness in crisis areas. Training on the equipment took place at the end of April 2012.

SPECIAL SUPERSTRUCTURE SOLUTION

The crane superstructure was specially designed for moving fully-loaded 20-foot ISO containers (from train to trailer) and has filled a previous gap in the requirement profile of the MoD. The vehicle is equipped with four supports that can be hydraulically swivelled by 180° to ensure that the all-terrain capability is not affected. The crane has a winch with 6 deflection pulleys that can lift up to 20 t. The lifting beams and lifting chains supplied are loaded at the rear of the loading platform, using an intelligent storage concept. The crane complies with EN 12999:2011, the latest European Standard that reduces the lifting capacity of the crane as a function of the load on the support leg and provides the customer with maximum safety.
