Trade Fairs & Events

The Florian trade fair is a specialised fair for fire brigade, fire safety and disaster management equipment. Some 120 exhibitors recently presented their products and services at the Florian fair in Karlsruhe. Empl also manned an information stand and exhibited the Mainaschaff fire brigade vehicle on site.

EMPL – which has offices in Austria and Germany – is the leading European manufacturer of individually built specialised high-quality superstructures for heavy-duty fire brigade vehicles, the utility vehicle industry and the security forces. Each vehicle is perfectly tuned to the wishes of the customer and the market requirements.

For the past 65 years, the name EMPL has stood for requirement- and solution-orientated vehicle superstructures. Flexibility, speed, professionalism and dedication have been the main factors in meeting customers’ expectations, thanks to a team of highly qualified employees.

Empl fire-fighting vehicles are in service worldwide and have proven their worth many times in a wide range of applications. In addition, the company constantly comes up with new innovations. Thus it has, for example, been one of the pioneers in the introduction of aluminium panel construction for fire-fighting vehicles. A team of developers is constantly engaged in the further development of superstructures and fire-fighting techniques and the implementation of innovative fire-fighting concepts. The company has its own test track for this purpose.

In recent years, Empl has particularly managed to make a name for itself in the industrial sector. Customised special vehicles, for example, have already been delivered to corporate fire brigades such as those of BASF, Securitas, Thyssen Krupp, Audi, EADS, Borealis, OMV, Sandoz, Qatar Gas, Qatar Petroleum, Oman Refinery Company, Yanbu Cement, SINOPEC and Aluminium Bahrain. Ideas presented by our customers are gladly accepted and implemented, as individual vehicle concepts are worked out to meet various requirements. EMPL customers particularly benefit from the wealth of experience the company has to offer in the field of logistics products, as the security industry places great value on tested vehicles with a long life expectancy and optimised performance.

The new StLF 10/6 fire-fighting vehicle belonging to the Mainaschaff fire brigade replaces an obsolete LF 8 model dating back to 1986. This vehicle is suitable for everything from fire-fighting to minor technical rescue operations and is mounted on a MAN TGL 8.220 chassis. It has been designed to accommodate a fire-fighting team (1/5) and transport a (1/8) fire-fighting unit. In addition, the vehicle has a trailer coupling to accommodate a fire-fighting boat.

The equipment superstructure is manufactured using the principles successfully applied by EMPL in recent years. An extremely flexible internal lay-out is achieved by using height-adjustable aluminium shelving with C-rails and perforated rails. The superstructure is rust-proof and light and has a particularly long service life.

Apart from a 1,000-litre extinguishing water container and a 60-litre foam tank, the vehicle also has rapid-access equipment, a FPN 10/1000k fire-extinguishing rotary pump, a traffic warning system, a pneumatic light mast, a speed-independent generator system and integrated environmental lighting.

Additional equipment includes a motor saw, a splitting tool, a hacksaw, a bolt cutter, a crow bar, a hydrant hammer, a stretcher, a floodlight spot, a cable drum, a traffic guidance cone, fireman’s ropes, an extinguishing blanket, an oil binder, a smoke curtain and a thermal-imaging camera.
