Following the floods in 2013, Empl supported the Kössen municipality, which had been hit particularly hard in June, by donating goods to the voluntary fire brigade.
In June, the ground floors of more than 500 houses in Kössen were flooded. Two hundred litres of rain per square metre were recorded within a 24-hour period. Some of the residents had to be rescued by helicopter or boat.
One of the casualties of the storm was that the equipment store of the Kössen voluntary fire brigade was flooded. The crew’s quarters, radio room, tool store and breathing equipment were all either damaged or swept away by the floods. To support the fire brigade, Empl has now handed over a rescue pump and several pairs of safety boots to the commander of the Kössen voluntary fire brigade, Senior Fire Officer Andreas Baluc, and supervisor Mario Schnalzger. The waste-water pump has already been used many times by Tyrolean voluntary and professional fire brigades and proved particularly useful during the flooding.
