The CNL (Council for Sustainable Logistics) and MAN Truck & Bus AG have formed a development partnership committed to economic, efficient and environmentally friendly goods transport. EMPL has been successful as a system supplier with its solutions for food distribution.
The CNL is a currently unique collaboration between 18 of the most important Austrian companies from logistics, retail and production which has set itself the task of jointly making the transport sector of the country even more sustainable. The vehicles from 9 members of the CNL are currently undergoing intensive practical tests under authentic conditions in their specific logistics and transport applications.

The eTGM were already handed over to the respective member companies at the MAN factory in Steyr last year. EMPL manufactured the chiller box bodies for the four companies Hofer KG, Metro Österreich, Rewe Group and Spar Warenhandels KG.
“This allows an annual reduction of around 40 tons of CO2 per vehicle when compared to conventional operation.” Sandra Stella, Head of Logistics at Hofer KG.
At Spar, the vehicle is used in the city of Graz, where particulate pollution is especially high.
EMPL is delighted to be part of this fantastic project, in particular as environmental management is one of the essential principles of the company.
“Large-scale photovoltaic systems allow us to supply a large part of the electricity required by our factories. Company cars running on electricity and gas support climate-friendly mobility, while our paint shops are equipped with a heat recovery system. We already received the GBE Factory Award for our activities in the field of eco-efficient projects.” Herbert Empl
