“Jugend Innovativ” is the largest national Austrian school competition for innovative ideas, allowing young people between 15 and 20 to develop and implement their own ideas and present them to the public. Two students from HTL Jenbach came in first place at this year’s competition with their master thesis project for EMPL.
Out of 463 innovative projects submitted by 1611 students in 5 categories, Philipp Hetzenauer and Thomas Lederer from HTL Jenbach took home the first prize for their master thesis project for EMPL in the category Mechanical Engineering/ Mechatronics. Federal Ministers Hammerschmid and Mahrer congratulated the winners at the “Aula der Wissenschaften” auditorium in Vienna.
Even just a few minutes of transport can require great amounts of packaging time and materials. For their master thesis at the HTL Jenbach, Philipp Hetzenauer and Thomas Lederer therefore developed a clever modular pallet system for in-house transport at EMPL to save time, money and materials. One concept consists of welded steel profiles and bent sheet metal parts, focusing on keeping the percentage of parts manufactured in-house as low as possible. The side walls consist of standardised steel side board profiles which are available by the metre. Another concept was based on the premise of purchasing fewer parts and producing more elements in - house. All parts can easily be fitted together with push - in connections.
The finalists received a total sum of 33,000 euros as cash prizes and will be sent to international innovation and science competitions in Europe and the US. EMPL congratulates all participants and of course especially the two winners Philipp Hetzenauer and Thomas Lederer.
EMPL: a company with a future!
