EMPL supplies water-foam roll-off container to Aspang volunteer fire service!

30/04/2020

A new water-foam roll-off container (8000/500) was recently handed over to the Aspang volunteer fire service on an existing base vehicle. The container also includes an HLF 4 pumper with rescue equipment built in accordance with the relevant regulations for the state of Lower Austria.

An existing hook loading system supplied by EMPL was adapted to serve as the base vehicle for the water-foam roll-off container, with the software and hardware in the MAN TGS 28.500 being modified to suit the new circumstances and requirements.

Water-foam roll-off container
The roll-off container has a custom length of 6,200 mm and is equipped with an 8,000-litre FRP water tank with electric fill level control and a 500-litre foam tank. The foam tank can be removed with a forklift truck and can also be filled using the foam addition system.

The rear of the container is fitted with a roll-up door and houses a 4000 pump unit with a Cameleon foam addition system. A folding working platform for the operator is mounted in front of the roll-up door in order to enable operation with the body on the vehicle. It is kitted out with fall protection as well as a removable ladder on the passenger side.

The roof of the container can be accessed by personnel. The roof above the equipment compartment between G1 and G2 contains a pneumatically extending roof cannon, which is lowered when the vehicle is parked. The pump and monitor are both operated from the control station at the rear and via radio remote control using a joystick and pushbuttons. A diesel generator is installed to provide an independent power supply.

The vehicle also has a 30 m fast attack reel with a hollow jet tube made from a 38 mm shape-retaining rubber hose with four bumpers. There is also a B-20 20 m looped fast attack unit with jet tube. Amongst other things, the vehicle is equipped with several double hose compartments, euro containers, a compressor, three breathing apparatuses and four hose protection ramps. The equipment complies with the regulations for constructing HLF 4 pumpers with rescue equipment in the state of Lower Austria.

All lighting elements on the vehicle – equipment compartments, surround lighting, beacons, etc. – use LED technology.
