EMPL supplies Bison to VBA member company SAFAR in Frankfurt!


It is always a special moment when EMPL hands over a BISON to a new customer, as recently to the VBA member company Auto - Service SAFAR GmbH from Frankfurt.

SAFAR GmbH, founded in 1973, is one of the largest rescue and recovery companies in the Rhine - Main region. More than forty highly trained employees go out on the roads over 40,000 times every year. The company is among the top 5 of the partners of the ADAC (Germany’s largest automobile club) and one might say it is a player in the top league.

The new heavy - duty rescue and recovery vehicle for SAFAR is based on an MAN TGS 41.500 8x4 EURO 6 chassis. Two hydraulic winches with flexible cable and a capacity of 20t and 10t are installed on the lifting arm. This are driven by hydraulic motors and equipped with pressure rollers and cable drum brakes.

The storage compartments are made from stainless steel with keyhole bars and are rubber coated on the inside. The storage openings are fitted with hinged doors and fold - out doors above the rear axles with pneumatic locking, including emergency opening. The inside of the body contains swivelling storage compartments for small parts, belts, etc. The anti - slip walk-on surface on the storage boxes is additionally equipped with a rail with integrated LED - lighting.

The lighting and safety equipment includes a flyer with light bar, flashing lights, work lights, position lights, perimeter lighting on the sides and reversing cameras.

The knuckle boom and the two lifting cylinders have a special corrosion-resistant chromium plating. The special high - performance “power tilt” function allows uncomplicated picking up of vehicles on sloped surfaces. Approx. 3.5t ballast weight on the driver’s cab ensures optimum axle load balancing during towing. All towing accessories have a CTC coating.

The vehicle is also equipped with a telescopic ladder, towing eye, towing bar, rescue equipment package including crowbar, heavy - duty hammer, bolt cutter, assembly roller, oil absorbent, etc. In addition to this, a tool box with comprehensive content is stored in the vehicle.
