13/08/2026

This year, the trip to Hanover for the IAA 2026 takes place from September 15 to 20. As a manufacturer of special-purpose vehicles, EMPL will naturally be represented once again with its own stand and an exhibition vehicle.

Under the slogan "Your Vision. Our Challenge." the long-established Zillertal-based company EMPL is presenting an interchangeable body system featuring an ambulance module mounted on a Mercedes-Benz Unimog U5023, designed for the Aachen City Region. The chassis is equipped with a roof hatch, a branch deflector, and a front-mounted winch for self-recovery.

PROVEN CONCEPT: SPECIAL BODIES
With locations in Austria and Germany, EMPL is a leading European manufacturer of high-quality, custom-built truck bodies for the commercial vehicle industry, fire services, and the defense and public authority sectors. Each vehicle is precisely tailored to meet customer requirements and specific market conditions.

Positioning itself as a niche player, EMPL stands for innovative, high-quality products and global expertise in delivering market- and customer-specific solutions for commercial vehicles. As an international company with an export rate of approximately 75%, EMPL supplies customers with over 3,000 units annually.

MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITY FOR DEMANDING APPLICATIONS
One vehicle – numerous applications
The innovative EMPL interchangeable body system transforms a vehicle into a versatile operational platform. This purpose-built system enables the quick and simple swapping of various bodies, ensuring maximum cost-efficiency and flexibility.

At the heart of the system is a torsion-resistant subframe—featuring a central tube and pivot bearings—that is securely mounted to the vehicle chassis. Twist-locks ensure the body is locked safely and reliably in place. Whether using a forklift, crane, or lifting supports, swapping bodies is quick and straightforward. This reduces downtime and increases the flexibility of the entire fleet.

Practical storage compartments, along with holders for canisters and wheel chocks, round off this well-conceived overall design, ensuring that essential equipment is always close at hand.

AMBULANCE BODY – THOUGHT OUT DOWN TO THE LAST DETAIL
The detachable ambulance module impresses with its robust construction, high level of comfort, and optimal functionality. Its self-supporting frame, made of welded steel profiles with integrated forklift pockets, ensures maximum stability.

The thermal-bridge-free sandwich construction offers excellent insulation values and creates optimal conditions for patients and emergency personnel alike, regardless of weather conditions. A parking heater, fan heater, and air conditioning system ensure a pleasant interior climate, while tinted, insulated glass windows provide added comfort. The roof features a non-slip coating and integrated lifting points, allowing the module to be safely swapped using a vehicle-mounted or overhead crane.

Inside, the ambulance module accommodates up to four patients on stretchers or six seated patients, along with two additional attendants. A functional cabinet unit featuring an integrated thermal box, an oxygen supply system, standard and airline rails for securely mounting emergency equipment and numerous power outlets ensures optimal working conditions during operations.

The setup is complemented by powerful perimeter and work lighting, as well as additional handheld spotlights located between the driver and front passenger seats. This guarantees excellent visibility at all times, even during night-time missions or in challenging operational conditions.

The result is a highly flexible, durable, and practical system that offers rescue organizations maximum operational readiness, superior functionality, and optimal cost-efficiency.

We look forward to your visit – Hall 25, Stand C20!
