The trade audience and interested trade fair visitors were once again treated to a lively hustle and bustle at the IFBA in Kassel from June 13th to 15th. As every year, the EMPL company was also represented with 2 vehicles.
EMPL is one of the leading manufacturers of tailor-made special bodies on truck chassis with a wide product range of fire engines and commercial vehicles, as well as vehicles in the defense industry and authorities.
EMPL vehicle factory
EMPL sees itself as a niche player and stands for innovative quality products, global competence and know-how in the implementation of market and customer-specific solutions for commercial vehicles. As an internationally operating company with an export quota of around 75%, EMPL supplies customers with over 3,000 units per year from its own production plants in Austria and Germany.
Around 50 heavy duty recovery vehicles also leave the factory in Kaltenbach every year for use by customers worldwide. 2 of these vehicles were on display again this year at the IFBA 2024.
EH/W 200 BISON – H.P. Gerber Pannendienst AG
The family business H.P. Gerber is the leading breakdown and accident service in the Basel and Bern regions. It operates around the clock throughout Switzerland with the most modern vehicles. Its specialties include complex rescues as well as demanding transports or attractive services that go far beyond breakdown service.
A Renault K520 8x4 serves as the basis for the new BISON recovery vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with two 20 ton winches, which are not on the recovery boom as usual but are positioned right at the front due to the total axle loads. The entire operation is carried out via a radio remote control. The tailor-made storage boxes with roller doors, which accommodate all towing equipment (axle forks, towing bolts, towing glasses, belt set, etc.), aluminum cabinet systems and hydraulically foldable mounting walls, are made entirely of aluminum and have a railing with integrated LED lighting. In addition, swing-out storage compartments, storage trays between the storage boxes and the main boom, a drawer with a heavy-duty pull on the driver's side and a pull-out for climbing on the passenger side are installed.
Ballast weights under and behind the driver's cab and an additional weight at the front of the bumper shift the weight to the front axles during towing. This results in a total axle load of just 10,500 kg when ready for use. Six camera systems and 28 LED headlights ensure the best view.
EH/W 200 BISON – Abschlepp- und Bergungsdienst Rigra GmbH
The Rigra company stands for 24-hour towing and recovery services, crane work, breakdown service and all types of transport. For the company from Siegsdorf, this is already the 4th vehicle from EMPL.
The basis for the heavy duty recovery vehicle EH/W 200 BISON is a MAN TGS 41.540. The vehicle has a 30 ton and a 15 ton winch on the main boom. Additional 10 ton winches are installed on the subframe, with side extensions on the right and left in the direction of travel and hydraulic support. Everything is operated via radio remote controls.
The tailor-made storage boxes, which house all towing equipment, are made entirely of stainless steel and have a black railing with integrated LED lighting. There are additional storage trays between the storage boxes and the main boom. A water tank with a paper roller is installed on the inside of the storage box door. There is also a tool cabinet with drawer opening on board.
The safety equipment includes ballast weights under and behind the driver's cab, flyers, a comprehensive lighting package (side lights, position lights, work lights, flashing lights, etc.), LED railing and a reversing video system.
EMPL would like to take this opportunity to thank its customers "H.P. Gerber Pannendienst AG" and "Abschlepp- und Bergungsdienst Rigra GmbH" for making the vehicles available, as well as the numerous trade fair visitors for the pleasant and constructive discussions.
