The Tyrolean manufacturer of special truck bodies has a new managing director. Josef Empl, who joined the company in 1970 and was responsible for the production sector as managing director, is handing over the reins to Dr Thomas Lanner.
DR THOMAS LANNER - CV
The 51-year old completed a study course at the TU Wien university in Vienna, then worked as an assistant at the University of Pittsburgh in the USA and at the TU Wien, where received his doctorate in 1998. From 1998 to 2012, he held different management positions in the production sector at Daimler AG in Germany, Brazil and Hungary. He joined EMPL in 2013 and made intensive preparations for the position as managing director. Dr Lanner now manages the company together with Heinz Empl (MD Finance) and Joe Empl (MD Sales/Marketing).
“I have found a competent successor in Dr. Thomas Lanner, with a great deal of experience in the production sector. He will continue to manage the company with due consideration and care,” Josef Empl says. “The succession was well prepared in good time and gave Dr Lanner enough time to settle in. The handover was accordingly smooth. Of course I will still be available to him and all other employees for advice and support.”

The company with a long tradition has over 70 years of experience in the manufacturing of customised truck bodies and trailers in the sectors of fire fighting vehicles, commercial vehicles and logistics products..

In addition to the headquarters in Kaltenbach, other locations are in Hall and Uderns and in Elster in Germany. The truck bodies are exported all over the world.
With the creation of an in - house EMPL Academy for partners, customers, employees and apprentices in 2016, the company took another step towards long term international success. In recent years, turnover increased substantially, ever new markets were opened up successfully and existing markets were expanded. In 2016, EMPL achieved a turnover of approx. 130 million euros with around 480 employees.
