Decarbonisation is the requirement of the hour. Having already delivered electric vehicles for food distribution transport, EMPL recently supplied 2 electric trucks with swap bodies to TYROLIT Schleifmittel Swarovski KG, one of the leading manufacturers of bonded grinding, cut-off, sawing, drilling and dressing tools.
The two vehicles set on 3-axle MAN TGM 26.360E 6x2-4 with lifting/steered rear axle and a range of up to 190 – 200 km are swap frame chassis with the corresponding curtainside swap flatbeds. The vehicles were purchased for transporting goods within the individual factories in Tyrolia and to the different Tyrolit factories on public roads.
Swap frame chassis
The hot-dip galvanised chassis is built for a container length of 7,150 or 7,450 mm and is equipped with two pairs of container support arms with twist lock system, 4 guide rollers and a stop at the front. An additional stainless steel tool box is installed on the driver side. A preservative was applied to the body components.
Curtainside swap flatbed
The body can be placed on telescopic support legs by means of the chassis air suspension. Appropriate lighting and a reversing camera help the driver with the swapping process and make the vehicle safer during everyday use. The swap flatbed is made of high-quality steel and is equipped with a glued laminated timber floor, which can support a fork lift truck. The inside of the front wall is fully lined with coated plywood boards. In addition, the lower section features a 300 mm high impact plate made of galvanised steel to protect the front wall against damage to a great extent. An aluminium roll-up door is installed as the rear wall. The lengthwise rail of the steel roof is fitted with runners for the side curtains, which feature a high-quality digital print.
In addition, the body is equipped with load securing components such as centre posts, each with 4 rows of slat pockets and one row of collection pockets in the floor area. Delivery also included aluminium push-in slats and 2 rows of steel push-in slats with hole/slot locking suitable for combination anchor rails and locking bars. Pallet attachment bars at the side with elongated holes, lashing rings and lashing points provide extensive options for securing the cargo.
