26/09/2022

Following a hiatus in 2020 due to COVID-19, EMPL took its own stand to IAA 2022 from 20 to 25 September in Hanover, showcasing a heavy-duty recovery vehicle on a Scania chassis to visitors from the industry and interested members of the public.

Following the slogan “Your vision. Our challenge.”, EMPL – an Austrian company with a long tradition – showcased a heavy-duty recovery vehicle manufactured for NNH Niedersächsischer Nutzfahrzeug-Handel GmbH this year. Like many other leading companies, it too relies on EMPL’s towing systems.

EH/W 200 BISON – NNH
Based in Deensen, Niedersächsischer Nutzfahrzeug-Handel GmbH is a broad-based company that offers rescue and recovery services, vehicle purchases and sales, import and export of commercial vehicles, a transport service, working platform and mobile crane hire, vehicle transfers and much more besides.

A Scania 770 V8 8x4 was used as the chassis for the new rescue vehicle. One 24 t and one 15 t winch are mounted on the main boom with an integrated telescopic recovery boom. Everything is operated via a radio remote control and a digital 7 inch display. An additional 10 t winch is installed on the support frame with an extension on the right-hand side (in the direction of travel) and a hydraulic support. The rescue supports are additionally equipped with spherical spikes at the customer’s request.

The customised storage boxes that accommodate all towing items (axle forks, towing bolts, low-mounted traction unit, towing frame, strap set, etc.) are made completely from stainless steel. Further there are additional accessories (tool cabinet, ladder, rescue equipment package, safety kit, etc.). The body is equipped with flaps and doors and features dual keyhole rails for adjustable storage sections, 180° swivelling storage sections and a railing with integrated LED lighting. The towing accessories have a CTC coating. The knuckle boom cylinder and the lifting cylinder are finished with a chromium-nickel coating for protection against corrosion and stone impact.

3.4 t ballast weights mounted behind and underneath the cab transfer the weight to the front axles during the towing process. Its other safety equipment includes an extending flyer, a comprehensive lighting package (demarcation lights, position lights, work lights, beacons, etc.) and a reversing video system as well as the EMPL Operator Safety System OSS with a visual display of vehicle safety on the control station, which has been fitted at the customer’s request. This system enables any rear axle overload or front axle relief to be monitored continuously, taking into consideration the technical and legal requirements.

EMPL would like to take this opportunity to thank, firstly, our customer Niedersächsischer Nutzfahrzeug-Handel GmbH for providing the vehicle and for its loyalty and, secondly, the many visitors to the trade fair for the pleasant and constructive discussions.

EMPL – Your vision. Our challenge.
